When searching for a home to buy, keep in mind the following: 1. Everything being equal, a blue sky is better then a gray sky and warm weather is better than cold. 2. During a search, look at as many properties as possible, including those set outside your price range. 3. The asking price is always set too high. 4. There is no such thing as a low bid. 5. A good real estate agent is priceless. 6. Never conduct a real estate transaction without legal representation. 7. Everything being equal, location trumps everything else in appraising value. 8. A potential buyer may never buy. 9. Owning property is preferable to leasing provided you really want to own it. 10. Be sure that you want to purchase property before you buy. 11. Beware of hidden expenses. 12. Easy to buy; difficult to sell. 13. When home values decline, the entire economy follows. 14. There is no guarantee that your home will appreciate in value. 15.
